BiographyDavid Giró Fortuny (Spain, 1974) began his music studies at the age of 6. After finishing his image and sound studies in 1992, he starts working as a sound technician at the Classic & New studios collaborating in projects such as the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. He soon starts composing jingles and in 2001 he becomes the music studio manager for Classic & New Madrid. In 2001 he joins DUY Studios. In mid 2001 he decides to become a freelance musician. Since then, he has been composing music for local and international documentaries, commercials, radio and television. He?s composed over 500 jingles and worked with directors such as Jordi Llompart and Albert Solé for whom he created the music of many documentaries. Some of David?s documentary soundtracks include ?Water Lives? (2002), ?Asha, Daughter of the Ganges? (2003), ?El cordobés, la España de los milagros? (2004), ?Adventure on the Nile? (2005), ?En la cárcel confidencial? (2006), ?The Nomad Experience? (2006), ?La mente del violador? (2006), multiawarded ?Bucharest, memory Lost? (2008) (Raíces Award, 2008; Gaudí Award 2009; Goya Award 2009), and ?Fate of Stalion? (2008). With IMAXŽ film ?Mystery of the Nile? (2005) he signed his first large format film soundtrack, a creative mix of African and Arabic sounds that blends modern and tribal instruments for a highly creative and dynamic result. Mystery of the Nile?s soundtrack earns the Giant Screen Theatre Association (GSTA) award to best soundtrack in 2005. At present David is working on the original soundtrack for the stereoscopic 3D film ?Magic Journey to Africa? by Jordi Llompart, to be released at 2010. Giró also teaches music classes in different universities in his hometown Barcelona, Spain. |
